PALM BAY -- A family is homeless and three firefighters are hurt as fire guts a home Thursday afternoon.
Antonio Ramirez said he came back around 3:30 p.m. from an errand and found flames coming from his Dinner Street house.
His wife and two children were not there at the time.
Despite the loss, Ramirez, who came to this country in a raft from Cuba 16 years ago, can't believe the community would come to help his family.
The home, valued at $250,000, is a total loss.
The family is being helped by the Red Cross and is staying in a hotel for the night.
While battling the blaze, three firefighters were injured.
Two were hit by debris after part of the roof collapsed. The other suffered from smoke-related injuries.
Late Thursday night, authorities said while the exact cause is "undetermined," a computer likely caused the fire.
