JUNEAU, Alaska(AP)

The Coast Guard has suspended its search for a small plane carrying an Alaska state official and his son.

Deputy Commissioner of Revenue Brian Andrews and his 24-year-old son, Brandon, have been missing since Aug. 9.

The pair had dropped off a family member with some camping gear in Juneau, then took off to retrieve more gear from Young Lake on north Admiralty Island, about 20 miles southeast of Juneau. They have not been heard from since.

Authorities have searched more than 4,800 miles of land, water and shoreline.

The Coast Guard says the plane had an emergency locator transmitter but it has not been activated.
